ZAFT attacks the Orb Union space colony, Heliopolis despite being its neutrality since the beginning of the Bloody Valentine War. Kira Yamato, while running for his life accidentally stumbles upon the Earth Alliance’s new prototype mobile suits. Kira stumbles upon his old childhood friend, Athrun Zala, now a ZAFT soldier as one of the attackers.
